Terms and Conditions for Fixed Route Services

Please Note: Children under 17 years of age are required to travel with an older passenger. One child (per adult fare paid) who has not reached his or her second birthday will be carried for free when not occupying a seat to the exclusion of another passenger. With each adult fare purchased 2 children between the ages 2 and 11 are eligible for a child fare.

In Illinois it is unlawful for a child under the age of 17 to purchase a ticket.

Ticket Restrictions, Limitations and General Information

All passengers are subject to security inspection.

All online ticket purchases are non-refundable (unless otherwise specified), Non-Transferrable and the origin, destination and routing cannot be changed. You must specify your travel dates on both the one way and round trip portions of your trip.

If you did purchase a refundable ticket, refunds are eligible up to the date and time of your scheduled travel. Tickets must be received by a Burlington Trailways representative on or before your scheduled departure date on the ticket.

Burlington Trailways can only process tickets that are printed with Burlington Trailways at the top of the actual ticket.

You can send a letter or an email with the unused ticket and reason for the refund to P.O. Box 531, West Burlington, IA 52655 or refunds@burlingtontrailways.com.

Ticket refunds will take 4-6 weeks to process after the scheduled departure date.

If you wish to change your scheduled departure date or time.

All tickets that are eligible are subject to a $20.00 re-issue fee. Tickets can only be re-issued 1 time.

Tickets will be null and void if not re-issued prior to your original scheduled departure date and time on your original ticket.

Re-issued tickets will be based on schedule availability. Advance purchase specials are subject to other terms and can be explained by calling (319) 753 – 2864 for further details.

You must present your online ticket to the driver along with your photo I.D. when you board the bus. No passenger will be allowed to board the bus without a ticket (Including but not limited to passengers showing a copy on your smartphone).*

You must print your ticket, No other documents related to your purchase will be accepted for transportation. If you are purchasing for another person departing from another city you must purchase a Pre-Paid Ticket Order through our Ticket office or by calling (319)753-2864.

Burlington Trailways is not responsible for delays due to breakdowns, road conditions, weather delays or other conditions beyond the carrier’s control. It is our goal to maintain an on time schedule, but we cannot guarantee an on time schedule.

All tickets are non-transferable. If a ticket is presented by any other person other than the one for whom it was purchased it will be void and subject to confiscation by any employee or any authorized employee of another carrier over which the ticket is issued.

We ask passengers to arrive at open terminals 30 minutes prior to departure. Burlington Trailways will not be responsible for the inconsistencies of various timepieces. If you are departing from a closed terminal or unmanned station we ask you to have proper accommodations until the bus arrives. Burlington Trailways will be responsible only for the transportation on its own lines, in accordance with tariff regulations and limitations and assumes no responsibility for acts or omissions of other carriers, within or outside the United States, except as imposed by law with respect to checked baggage.

Seating aboard Burlington Trailways is without regard to race, color, sex, or national origin.

Baggage Regulations and Limitations

Burlington Trailways reserves the right to inspect any and all carry on or checked baggage, personal effects.

Government regulations and carrier’s tariffs require that all baggage must have proper identification that clearly shows the passengers name and home address. Free identification tags are available at all ticket counters. Place your completed ID tags on the outside and inside of all checked and carry-on baggage.

Any baggage that needs to be stored under the bus must be checked at the ticket counter. If there is not an agent on duty or at an unmanned depot it must be checked at the next available location.

Passengers holding adult fare tickets are allowed 1 piece of baggage checked under the bus (Not to exceed 50 pounds) for no additional charge. Passengers with child fare tickets are allowed 1 piece of baggage checked (Not to exceed 50 pounds). All passengers are allowed to check additional baggage under the bus for an additional charge above the free allowance. Call (319) 753 – 2864 and speak to an agent for details.

Always keep your medicine with you at all times and do not put it in your baggage stored in the baggage compartment under the bus. Burlington Trailways is not responsible for lost medicine or other restricted / prohibited items.*

Plastic bags will not be accepted as checked baggage, and only small plastic bags can be carried on the bus.

Please do not take photos, video or make audio recordings of any Burlington Trailways staff, equipment or procedures.
